Because the most wonderful time of the year shouldn't feel like the busiest.
Can you feel it? That little bit of excitement in the air?
The pumpkins are out, the sweaters are making their comeback, and somewhere in the back of your mind, you're realizing that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner.
I love this time of year. The anticipation, the traditions, the little things that make it all feel special. But I also know how quickly all that holiday magic can turn into one very long to-do list.
So, before the calendars fill up and the holiday hustle begins, here are five little things you can do now to make the coming weeks feel a whole lot easier.
1. Start a Gift List (Before You Forget That Brilliant Idea)
This year, keep a running gift list. Nothing fancy required. Just grab a pretty notepad and jot down ideas as they come. Keep it somewhere handy so you can reach for it when inspiration strikes. Future you will be so grateful.
2. Give Your Calendar a Little Attention
Before the invitations, school programs, parties, and family gatherings start piling up, take a few minutes to look ahead.
Write down the dates you already know, add a few reminders, and here's the important part: leave some empty spaces.
I think sometimes we get so busy making the holidays wonderful for everyone else that we forget to leave ourselves time to actually enjoy them.
You don't have to fill every weekend to make the season memorable.
3. Keep a Few Thoughtful Gifts on Hand

An unexpected invitation? A neighbor who deserves a thank-you? A little something for a teacher?
Having two or three gifts tucked away can save you a last-minute trip to the store. And let's be real, one less trip to the store in December is a gift all by itself!
Think a beautiful notebook, a fun pen set, or a creative little watercolor kit. Add a blank note card, and you've got a thoughtful gift ready in minutes.
4. Check Your Cards and Wrapping Supplies
There's nothing quite like finding the perfect gift and realizing you're completely out of gift bags. Or tape. Why is it always the tape?
Take a quick peek at what you already have. A few greeting cards, gift tags, tissue paper, and a roll of tape can make those last-minute moments so much easier.
And if you're anything like me, you can never have too many beautiful note cards.
5. Put Something FUN on the List
This one might be my favorite.
Before your calendar fills with everything you have to do, write down something you simply want to do.
A favorite holiday movie. An afternoon of baking. A drive to see the Christmas lights. Whatever makes this season feel special to you. What's one holiday tradition you always make time for?
For me, it's an evening at home with Christmas music playing while I work on a little project. Nothing fancy. Just a cozy evening doing something I enjoy.
Because the best parts of the holidays aren't always the big, perfectly planned moments. Sometimes they're the little ones you actually made time to enjoy.
The Little Things
Here's your friendly reminder: You don't have to get everything done today.
Pick just one little thing from this list and give yourself a head start. That's enough.
The holidays will be here before we know it. Let's make a little more room to enjoy them.
Here's to finding joy in the little things.
